Abstract

 In this paper we will try to showcase, during the first part, the challenges of the contemporary world and the importance of fasting, and during the second part, we will see how the canonical tradition about fasting was established in the document The Importance of fasting and its observance today  approved by the Holy and Great Council that took place in Crete.
