Abstract
The phenomenon of decorating the exterior walls of churches in Moldova, generalized in the 16th century is a unique one. Creation of the time of Prince Petru Rares, the outer painting first appeared in 1530 at the Church of St. George in Harlau.
As a valence of this established program is that the theme once set is repeated unchanged at several monuments: the Siege of Constantinople, the Last Judgment - plasticized postulates in the defense of the Moldovans against the Ottoman enemies, the Hymn of Acatist, the Tree of Jesse, the Prayer, the Stairs of John Climax. Along with these topics there may be others in the Genesis area, but also in the life or martyrdom of local saints or patrons of the church.
