Abstract

In the present material we tried to add some specifications to the biobibliography of Rev. Dr. Virgil Ciobanu, professor at the old Orthodox Theological Institute of Cluj. We made the completions based on his daughter’s manuscript. Ruxandra Ciobanu brought some interesting novelties about his father’s life and activity. Virgil Ciobanu was in the same time a doctor, a priest and also a military priest, participant in the World War I, man of culture, a strong supporter of the Romanians in Vienna, where he founded a Romanian Orthodox Chapel in 1906; returned in his country, he dedicated to both: medical science and clerical life until his death, in 1965.

Keywords: Virgil Ciobanu, doctor, ecclesiastic, military priest – major, Vienna, Cluj, Bucharest, pastoral medicine
